How Much Do Newborn Photos Cost in Calgary? A Transparent Breakdown
One of the first questions expecting parents ask me — and one of the questions that gets the most evasive answers in the photography industry — is simply: how much does this cost?
I believe in being transparent about pricing. Here's what you can actually expect to pay in Calgary, what drives the price differences, and what my packages include.
The Calgary Market: What to Expect
Newborn photography in Calgary ranges from approximately $150 for a budget or newer photographer to $1,000+ for established fine-art photographers with premium add-ons.
The majority of experienced professional newborn photographers in Calgary fall in the $300–$700 range for a session with a reasonable number of edited images included.
This is not a small investment — but it's also a one-time investment for images that last permanently.

What Determines the Price in the Industry
Experience and training. A photographer who has done 1,200+ sessions commands higher rates than someone in their first year — and should. That experience directly affects safety, posing skill, and the consistency of the final images.
What's included in the session fee. Some photographers charge a lower sitting fee but charge per image. Others (like me) include a set number of edited images in the package price. Understand the full cost before booking.
Props, equipment, and wardrobe. A fully equipped studio with professional lighting, a large prop collection, a wardrobe of wraps and outfits, and high-end editing software represents a significant ongoing investment. Those costs are reflected in session pricing.
Editing quality and turnaround. Professional editing takes time. Rushed turnaround often means less careful editing. My standard 30-business-day delivery ensures each image receives proper attention.
How to Choose the Right Package
Newborn I is a focused, beautiful option for families who want the core wrapped and detail shots without the extended session time. Perfect if you're budget-conscious or if your baby doesn't tolerate long sessions.
Newborn II and III give more variety — more colour settings, more poses, and the flexibility to include family. My most popular range.
Newborn IV is for families who want the complete gallery experience, including the fine-art digital background composites that are unique to that package.
If you're genuinely unsure, tell me your budget and your vision and I'll help you find the right fit.
FAQ
Is it cheaper to book through discount sites?
I don't offer my services through discount platforms. The pricing above reflects my experience, time, and the quality of the final product.
Can I pay in installments?
Reach out and we can discuss. A booking fee reserves your date, with the balance due by session day.
Why are some photographers much cheaper?
Lower price usually means less experience, limited equipment, or fewer edited images included. That's not always a bad tradeoff — it depends on what you need. But for newborn photography specifically, safety training and experience should be your primary screening criteria, not price.
