Where to Buy Maternity Clothes in Calgary: My Go-To Shops

Mar 22 2025 | By: Fernanda Bautzer

After 15 years of photographing Calgary mamas, I've picked up a pretty good little black book of where to find maternity clothes in this city — for everyday comfort, for special occasions, and for those "nothing fits anymore" weeks. Here are a few of my own go-to shops, from brand-new boutiques to budget-friendly consignment.

Baby & Me Maternity

A true Calgary staple — they've been dressing local moms for over 30 years. You'll find both new pieces and a much-loved consignment (pre-loved) section, plus nursing wear and baby gifts. They have a spot at Willow Park Village and a location at 4625 Varsity Dr NW (Suite 207); you can call ahead at (403) 283-3070. Lovely, down-to-earth staff who'll actually help you find your fit.

Dragonfly Maternity

So much more than a clothing store. Dragonfly (2104 Centre St NE) offers maternity consignment alongside perinatal fitness classes and a real sense of community — you can shop pre-loved pieces and book a prenatal yoga class in the same visit. Reach them at (587) 316-0822. A wonderful local resource for the whole motherhood journey.

Knocked Consignment

If you're shopping smart, Knocked focuses on affordable, gently used maternity clothing. They keep limited hours (often just Friday and Saturday), so check before you go — but the deals are worth it.

Fresh Kids

Fresh Kids specializes in the upscale resale of maternity, baby, and kids' clothing — a great option when you want quality brands without the brand-new price tag.

Ella Bella (online, ships from Calgary)

No storefront to browse, but Ella Bella ships locally from Calgary and has a beautifully intuitive online store with tons of trendy maternity and nursing options. Perfect for those days when leaving the house is just too much.

Budget vs splurge: how to shop smart

My honest advice? Buy a few well-fitting basics new (leggings, a good bra, an everyday dress), and lean on consignment for trendier or one-time pieces. And remember — for your photoshoot itself, you don't need to buy anything at all, because my studio wardrobe is included. (More on that in my post on the included wardrobe.)

FAQ

Where's the best place for affordable maternity clothes in Calgary? Consignment shops like Knocked and Dragonfly, plus Baby & Me's pre-loved section.

Do I need to buy a dress for my maternity photos? No — my studio wardrobe is included in every session.

Can I shop online and still try local? Yes — Ella Bella ships from Calgary, and the boutiques above all welcome in-store fittings.

Once you've got your everyday pieces sorted, leave the photoshoot looks to me. See the studio wardrobe on my wardrobe page, or check what to wear in my styling guide.
