Where to Shop for Holiday Photo Outfits in Calgary

Warm neutral Holiday outfits for adults, children and babies in cream, white, beige and camel.

Warm Neutrals — Holiday Outfit Guide

Choosing clothes for family photographs often starts with one lovely outfit, then becomes a search for everything that will go with it. I put together our Holiday Outfit Guides to make that part easier.

For Holiday Mini 2026, we have four directions: Warm Neutrals, Classic Holiday, Relaxed Mix, and Black & White. Below, I’ll show you how to use each guide, where I would start shopping in Calgary, and which details to check before your session.

There is no need to replace everyone’s wardrobe. A cream sweater, well-fitting trousers or a favourite dress may already give you the beginning of a beautiful family combination. Use the boards for colour and texture inspiration, then fill the gaps with pieces your family will feel comfortable wearing.

Real clothes to bring the outfit guides to life

Here are real pieces from Canadian retailers that echo the colours, fabrics and shapes in our Holiday Outfit Guides. Start with the pieces you already own, then use these examples to fill the gaps.

Warm Neutrals: cream knits, a light beige children’s dress and an off-white baby layer. Classic Holiday: deep green and maroon with cream and dark trousers. Relaxed Mix: grey and brown sweaters with beige or ivory. Black & White: simple white Oxford shirts with black trousers.

Tap a photograph to open its retailer’s product page. Product photographs are credited to the named retailers. These are similar styling options, not the exact garments shown in our inspiration boards. Prices are in Canadian dollars and were checked on September 16, 2026; please confirm your size and local store availability before shopping.

A quick note before you shop

The outfit boards are styling inspiration. They are not photographs of clothing supplied by the studio or exact shopping lists from a particular retailer. Please bring your own clothing.

The Canadian retailer references in this guide were researched on September 16, 2026. Any prices mentioned are in Canadian dollars, before tax and delivery. Colours, promotions and sizes can change. A confirmed store location does not mean that every item on its website is stocked there.

I have included official links so you can check your size and colour before making a special trip. If a particular piece is unavailable, use its shape, shade or texture as your shopping brief. You can often create the same colour combination with something you already own.

Start with your wardrobe, then make a short shopping list

Lay out complete outfits for everyone, including shoes, socks, tights and any layers. A bed or a clear space on the floor works well. Take one photograph of the whole group so you can see whether the colours feel connected.

Choose the piece that is hardest to replace first. That might be a dress you love, trousers that fit particularly well, or the only cardigan your toddler happily wears. Let it guide the other choices.

Next, write down the actual gaps: “cream top for Dad,” “plain tights for my daughter,” or “brown shoes that still fit.” This is much easier to shop for than “four matching Christmas outfits.”

Bring the outfit guide and your wardrobe photograph on your phone. If one colour is difficult to match, bring the garment itself. Two items described online as beige can look quite different together.

Keep tags on until everyone has tried the full combination at home. Check the retailer’s return conditions before buying alternatives, especially when shopping sale or factory collections.

Option 01: Warm Neutrals

Our Warm Neutrals guide brings together white, cream, ivory, oatmeal, beige and camel. The interest comes from the different fabrics: a cable knit beside a smooth shirt, a soft skirt beside corduroy trousers.

For adults, start with a cream knit and beige trousers, or a white shirt with an ivory skirt or dress elsewhere in the family. Children can repeat those shades in a simple dress, cardigan or shirt. For babies, a comfortable off-white bodysuit or knit layer can be enough.

You do not need everyone in precisely the same cream. Look at the pieces together and decide whether the warm and bright tones feel balanced. Avoid buying four versions of the same sweater just to make them match.

This is an easy starting point for our white, green and red sets. Brown or camel footwear adds another gentle neutral. A little texture is welcome; large lettering and busy prints will pull attention away from faces.

Option 02: Classic Holiday

Forest green, burgundy, cream and champagne give this guide its Christmas feeling. Charcoal or black trousers help ground the stronger colours.

The cream-knit-and-burgundy-skirt combination is a useful adult starting point. Another person might wear a deep green sweater with dark trousers. Children can pick up a little of either colour through a cardigan, dress or bow, with cream keeping the group from feeling too dark.

For a deep-green colour reference, Twik at Simons has a Rolled Trim Sweater in Mossy Green, listed at $39.95, reduced from $59. Zara’s Maroon Knit Cardigan, listed at $45.90, is another way to repeat burgundy. Pair either with cream and dark trousers. These are colour and texture references; their cuts differ from the garments on our board. Check the current price and your size before shopping.

Keep the set you booked in mind. Against green, a cream layer can help separate the outfit from the background. Against red, balance a large burgundy piece with lighter clothing elsewhere in the family. You can keep the festive colours without putting every person in red and green.

Zara: Maroon Knit Cardigan

Simons: Twik Rolled Trim Sweater in Mossy Green

Option 03: Relaxed Mix

Relaxed Mix uses grey, brown, beige, white, champagne and cream. It is a good direction for families who want clothes that feel close to what they normally wear.

Try a grey knit with brown trousers, then add an ivory blouse or cream sweater and a beige skirt or trousers. Children can repeat brown, cream and oatmeal. One fine neutral stripe can work well when the rest of the group wears mostly solids.

UNIQLO’s Canadian knitwear range is a useful place to browse for this palette. Its Low Gauge Cable Crew Neck Sweater and Souffle Yarn Half Zip Sweater provide examples of the brown, natural and beige directions. Check the selected colour on the product page rather than relying on the first thumbnail.

Mix texture instead of adding lots of accessories. A corduroy trouser, smooth blouse and soft knit already give the photographs variety. Choose shoes in brown, taupe or another colour that belongs to the group.

UNIQLO: Low Gauge Cable Crew Neck Sweater

UNIQLO: Souffle Yarn Half Zip Sweater

Option 04: Black & White

A simple black dress, white shirt, black trousers and ivory children’s pieces can create a clear family colour story with very little shopping. This guide is especially useful when you already own some dressier basics.

Vary how much black each person wears. One adult can wear a black dress while another wears a white shirt and black trousers. A child in ivory brings a lighter area into the group; a small black bow or cardigan can repeat the darker colour.

Our red and green sets give this palette a strong background. Keep the clothing simple so the contrast feels deliberate. Check that dark trousers are free of lint and that bright undershirts do not show through a white shirt.

For little ones, comfort still comes first. A plain knit and soft trousers can carry the same palette as a dressier outfit. There is no need for a stiff collar or formal shoes your child cannot comfortably walk in.

Choose one shopping area and solve the hardest outfit first

Before choosing a mall, decide what you actually need. A family missing several sizes may benefit from stores with adult, child and baby departments. Someone who already has the children’s outfits may only need an adult skirt or a pair of trousers.

The routes below are suggested shopping priorities, not walking directions. Use the current mall directory for store positions and check opening hours before you go.

For a dress or skirt that will set the palette, start there. For a baby or toddler who is difficult to fit, begin with their clothes instead. Once the anchor piece is chosen, the remaining purchases become much more specific.

One focused trip is usually easier than comparing every mall. Photograph possible pieces beside your existing clothes before deciding whether you need them.

CF Chinook Centre: build the family outfits in one visit

At 6455 Macleod Trail SW, CF Chinook Centre gives you several ways to approach the list.

If the adult anchor is still undecided, I would begin with Zara or Aritzia for a skirt, dress or knit. For a shirt-and-trouser outfit, consider UNIQLO or Banana Republic. Look for pieces you would enjoy wearing again after the photographs.

Then move to family basics. UNIQLO’s official Chinook listing includes women, men, kids and baby. Gap’s Chinook listing includes Gap, babyGap and GapKids. These make useful next stops when you are trying to repeat cream, beige, brown or black across different ages.

H&M is another confirmed Chinook store, with Canadian online references that can help you narrow down the colours before visiting. Its Cream Raglan-Sleeved Sweater and White Regular Fit Oxford Shirt are two examples featured later in this guide.

For a Classic Holiday combination, find the burgundy or forest-green anchor first, then look for quieter cream and charcoal pieces. For Warm Neutrals, bring the existing cream garment so you can compare it with new items.

Confirm the size and in-store availability of any must-have piece before travelling.

CrossIron Mills: compare family basics, children’s clothes and shoes

CrossIron Mills is at 261055 CrossIron Boulevard in Rocky View. Its confirmed stores give you a useful mix of family clothing, children’s specialists and footwear.

If the baby or toddler is the hardest person to dress, start at Carter’s / OshKosh or Old Navy. Look for a soft cream layer, plain shirt, comfortable trousers or a simple dress that works with the chosen board. Once that colour is settled, coordinate the adults.

For an adult starting point, consider Gap Factory, Banana Republic Factory or H&M. Gap Factory’s ivory sweater polo shows another way to use cream without putting every adult in the same knit. It was $38.99, reduced from $64.99, with a limited size selection during our check. Pair it with beige or brown chinos to follow the guide.

Finish with shoes only if your existing pairs do not work. DSW is a confirmed option at CrossIron, although the stock of a particular shoe or size still needs checking.

Pay attention to the store format. Gap Factory and Banana Republic Factory are factory stores; H&M and Old Navy retain their own store names. Being at CrossIron does not mean that every item has an outlet price or the same return policy as another branch.

Check the directory before leaving and make a short list of priority stops. The goal is to find the missing pieces, not to complete a circuit of the entire mall.

CF Market Mall: a practical northwest route

CF Market Mall, at 3625 Shaganappi Trail NW, is a useful option when the main gaps are knits and coordinating basics.

Start at UNIQLO, whose official listing includes women, men, kids and baby. Warm Neutrals and Relaxed Mix give you a clear shopping brief here: cream or natural knitwear, grey or brown layers, and simple trousers. Check the actual colour and fabric against your existing clothes.

H&M gives you another comparison for an adult top, dress or a missing layer. Gap Factory is also confirmed at Market Mall and can be a further stop for family basics.

Remember that Gap Factory is a different retail collection from regular Gap. A product linked on the regular Gap Canada website is not automatically something you will find at Market Mall’s Factory store.

This route works particularly well when you already have the main dress or skirt and are filling smaller gaps. Bring that garment’s photograph and resist adding a new colour just because you like an individual item.

Southcentre: finish the adult look, then fill the children’s gaps

Southcentre, at 100 Anderson Road SE, is another convenient route for families in south Calgary. Confirmed options include RW&CO., H&M, Old Navy and Gap Factory.

If you need an adult blouse, knit or trousers, start with RW&CO. or H&M. Once you have settled the fit and colour, use that piece to guide the rest of the family.

Old Navy can be a useful stop for a plain child’s shirt or everyday basics. Its Canadian website lists white Oxford shirt styles for toddlers and boys, which give a clear starting point for Black & White or Warm Neutrals. Check the branch’s inventory for the correct age and size.

Compare any remaining trousers or knits at Gap Factory. As at Market Mall, use its own Canadian catalogue rather than assuming a regular Gap item will be there.

Before buying, consider the whole outfit. The right cream shirt will still need suitable trousers, socks and comfortable shoes.

The CORE: an adult anchor-piece stop

If the children are already sorted and you need the piece that ties the adults’ outfits together, consider Simons at The CORE, 304 8th Avenue SW, Unit 100.

Its women’s and men’s departments make it a useful place to browse for a skirt, blouse, dress, knit or trousers. For Classic Holiday, bring a cream top you already own and look for a burgundy or deep-green companion. For Relaxed Mix, compare soft grey, brown, champagne and ivory.

Treat this as an adult-focused shopping stop rather than a plan to outfit every age in one store. That narrower brief can make the visit more useful.

You can also browse the Canadian clothing categories before going. Save the pieces that interest you, then check the size and store availability so your trip has a clear purpose.

A few specific Canadian shopping references

For an adult cream knit, H&M’s Raglan-Sleeved Sweater in Cream was listed at $59.99. For a white adult shirt, its Regular Fit Oxford Shirt was $34.99. The online size selectors showed available sizes during our September 16 check; please recheck your size and local store before relying on either.

For a child’s white shirt, Old Navy’s Lightweight Oxford School Uniform Shirt for Boys is a plain-colour reference that can work beyond school. Its Long-Sleeve Oxford Shirt for Toddler Boys was $14.99, reduced from $24.99, during our online check. These are different size ranges, so choose the one that fits your child.

For babies, Carter’s Little Planet Organic Cotton Signature Stitch Cardigan in Sweet Cream is a textured layering reference. Joe Fresh’s Off White Pointelle Long Sleeve Bodysuit offers a simpler base. Read the material description and choose something your baby is comfortable wearing.

These links illustrate useful pieces within our palettes. They do not form a complete outfit package, and online listings do not confirm local stock. If an item sells out, keep the colour brief and search for the same kind of garment elsewhere.

Keep the budget for the pieces you actually need

The lowest-cost starting point is usually your own wardrobe. A plain white shirt, black trousers or cream cardigan may only need a new companion piece.

For children who are growing quickly, consider borrowing from a sibling or checking secondhand. Once Upon A Child’s Calgary South location is at 8228 Macleod Trail in Heritage Hills Mall. Go with a flexible brief such as “cream cardigan in this size” rather than expecting a particular brand or exact outfit.

Joe Fresh’s Canadian online catalogue is another place to compare baby basics, with pickup availability depending on the item and selected location. Factor in delivery costs and the time needed for a possible exchange.

I would spend first on comfortable fit and only then on extra accessories. A bow, belt or new pair of shoes is optional if the outfit already feels complete.

Once Upon A Child Calgary South: location information

Joe Fresh: baby clothing reference

For adults: check the outfit sitting down

Holiday photographs can include sitting on the sofa, leaning towards a child and cuddling close. Try your outfit in those positions before deciding it is the one.

Check whether a dress or skirt rides up, whether a waistband feels comfortable and whether a shirt pulls when you lift your arms. Wear the underlayers you plan to use so you can check neckline, transparency and visible straps.

If you will be holding a baby, choose a top you can move in. A soft knit or comfortable shirt is easier to enjoy than a garment you need to keep adjusting.

For couples, repeat a colour rather than buying identical outfits. A cream top on one person and a cream detail on another can be enough. Let each person keep a shape and texture that feels like them.

For children and babies: comfort is part of the outfit

Let children try the whole outfit for a few minutes at home. Ask them to sit, walk, bend and reach. This is when an itchy neck, stiff waistband or uncomfortable pair of tights usually becomes obvious.

Choose a familiar fit if your child is sensitive to new clothes. A soft plain sweater can fit the guide just as well as a more formal shirt. Small festive details are optional; keep accessories easy to wear and avoid anything your child constantly pulls off.

For babies, check that the outfit sits comfortably when they are held and that the neckline stays where you want it. Bring feeding supplies and a spare outfit for little accidents. An emergency spare is useful even when the planned photographed look is one outfit.

A child does not need every piece shown on a board. The colour family, comfortable clothing and a little texture are enough to carry the idea.

Shoes, socks and the final try-on

Please bring clean shoes for the set. Calgary outdoor footwear may be practical for the journey but not the pair you want in the photographs. Keep your chosen shoes in a bag so they arrive clean.

Check children’s shoe sizes before the session week. Try tights and socks with the actual shoes, and look for bright stripes or logos that become visible when someone sits down. Brown, black, cream or another shade already in your palette is an easy direction.

At the final try-on, lay everyone’s outfit together again. Remove visible labels, check for stains and lint, and steam or iron anything that needs it according to the care label. Take a quick photograph of the group of clothes.

If you are unsure between two combinations, you are welcome to send me an outfit photograph before your session.

What to bring to your Holiday Mini

Our Holiday Mini sessions take place indoors at 231 Yorkville Road SW, Calgary. Plan your coats and travel shoes for the weather, then arrive dressed in your chosen outfit.

Please bring your own clothing and plan for one outfit per person. If you booked an outfit-change add-on, bring the second look arranged with the rest of your booking.

Check which sets are included in your package when choosing colours. Our Holiday collection includes white, green and red sets; the Santa Jeff package uses the white and red sets.

A small bag with clean shoes, baby supplies, wipes and an emergency child’s outfit keeps the practical things together. Allow extra travel time if the roads are snowy. Once you are here, I’ll guide the photographs so you can settle in with your family.

Your next step

Choose the guide that feels most like your family, photograph the clothes you already own and make a short list of what is missing. Then pick the shopping route that suits that list.

You do not need to reproduce every item on a board. I want you to feel comfortable in clothes that work together, with room to sit close, laugh and enjoy your time with the children.

You can see the Holiday Mini 2026 sets, packages and outfit inspiration on the session page below.

If you are still missing a piece, these extra examples make the four colour directions easier to shop. Look for cream knits and khaki trousers for Warm Neutrals, a burgundy dress for Classic Holiday, or a simple black dress with a white shirt for Black & White. You can also mix the neutral pieces into the Relaxed Mix palette.
