We plan around what your baby is doing now. These ages are a guide; there is no need to rush a new skill for a photograph.

Choose a time that works with your baby’s naps and feeds. Bring their usual milk or snacks, nappies, a spare outfit and a favourite toy.
We have studio props, backdrops and baby outfits in selected sizes. Share your preferred colours before the session, and bring any personal or cultural pieces you would like included.
For family photographs, coordinated colours and simple textures work beautifully. We can help you choose a palette that feels like your family.
Your baby does not need to perform for the camera. We use comfortable positions and allow time to settle.

Hi, I’m Fernanda.
I’ve been photographing babies and families since 2010. The months between newborn and first birthday are full of expressions and connections that change before we quite notice.
At our studio at 231 Yorkville Rd SW, Calgary, we help you plan the colours, outfits and photographs so you can enjoy this time with your baby.
Your session is provided by Fernanda Bautzer Photography. Our studio assigns the photographer and team members for each session and remains responsible for the artistic direction, style, editing and delivery. Booking with our studio does not reserve a specific photographer.

How much is baby milestone photography in Calgary?
Milestones I is $324 CAD plus tax for a 1-hour studio session, 1 setup and 10 edited digital images of your baby. Milestones II is $396 CAD plus tax for a 1-hour studio or outdoor session, 2 setups and 20 edited digital images, including family portraits. Both include colour and black & white delivery.
When is the best time for a milestone session?
Choose a stage you want to remember: early smiles and tummy time, sitting, or later movement and expressions. Around 3–4 months and the sitter stage, often around 6–8 months, are popular choices. We plan around your baby’s comfort and abilities rather than a fixed date.
Does my baby need to sit independently?
No. We can photograph babies lying comfortably, enjoying tummy time or being held. If you specifically want sitter portraits, tell us what your baby can comfortably do and we can discuss the best timing.
Are baby outfits, props and backdrops included?
Yes. Studio props, backdrops and available baby outfits are included. Tell us your colour preferences before the session so we can confirm the pieces and sizes available. You are welcome to bring meaningful personal items or cultural outfits.
Can parents and siblings be in the photographs?
Yes. Milestones II includes family portraits as well as individual baby portraits. Let us know who will attend so we can plan the photographs and coordinated outfits.
Can we have an outdoor milestone session?
Milestones II offers a studio or outdoor session. Contact us before booking to discuss the location, season, weather and what will be comfortable for your baby.
Can we plan several sessions through the first year?
Yes. Contact us to plan a series around the stages you would like to remember and ask about returning-client pricing. We will confirm the sessions, dates and total with you before booking.
What if my baby needs a break or does not smile?
Babies have their own rhythm. We allow time to settle and take breaks, and photograph their natural expressions. Choose a time that fits their routine and bring their usual feeding supplies and a familiar toy.
When will we receive our photographs?
Your viewing gallery is posted within 7 days. After you submit your selection, final edited photographs are delivered within 30 business days. If you have a deadline, tell us before booking so we can discuss express editing.
How are milestones different from newborn, birthday or Cake Smash sessions?
Milestone sessions focus on your baby’s changing expressions and skills. Newborn sessions are designed for the early newborn stage. Birthday portraits celebrate a particular age, while Cake Smash adds a styled cake session and baby bath. Each has its own package and booking page.
