Cake Smash Photography in Calgary
Nothing says "happy first birthday" like a joyful cake smash. In my SW Calgary studio we build a custom themed setup — colours, props and outfits included — and let your one-year-old dive in while I capture every giggle, frosting-covered grin and proud little mess.

In this session, the baby will pose first with the parents and then start having fun making a mess with the Cake and Fruits. There is still a bathtub waiting for them. This session is stress-free for the parents. Let the baby enjoy and make sure we capture the chaos and joy of your baby’s first year of life with a fun and creative cake smash photo!
In the Studio, I will provide a variety of outfits and decorations to create the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable moment. You do not need to bring anything regarding decoration.

What to Expect at the Session
Timing & Location: Available any day of the week (Monday to Sunday) at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m., hosted in the Studio.
Cake: The cake is not included. Every family has different dietary needs and preferences, so you bring your own cake that best suits your baby.

Each Smash the Cake session is divided into three fun and memorable moments:

Family Photos
We begin with soft, heartwarming portraits of your baby with parents and siblings. This helps your little one warm up to the camera and the setting while we capture the connection, laughter, and love that make this milestone so special. -
Cake Smash Time!
Then comes the highlight — the cake! Your baby gets to explore, taste, squish, and enjoy every bit of frosting. Whether it’s big smiles or messy hands, these photos are always full of joy, surprise, and genuine expressions. -
Bath & Splash
After all that sweetness, we finish with a little cleanup moment that’s just as cute: a baby bathtub with warm water and bubbles. Babies love this part, and it makes for some of the most adorable and relaxed photos of the entire session.

I have a few ready-to-go themed backdrops, but I’m also very open to your ideas!
If you already have a color palette, favorite theme, or mood in mind, let’s chat and plan it together. Whether you dream of a soft pastel setup, a rustic neutral look, or a full-color explosion, we can bring it to life beautifully — all while keeping it realistic, comfortable, and baby-friendly.
💡 Tip: Keep your child’s outfit simple and coordinated with the colors of the setup. Creams, beiges, whites, or soft tones always photograph beautifully and keep the focus on the joy of the moment!
Observations
Smash the Cake sessions are perfect to celebrate your little one’s first birthday, but can be done anytime between 6 and 18 months.
The cake is not included, as every family has different preferences, dietary needs, and possible allergies. This allows you to choose or bake one that’s safe and suitable for your baby.
After the Photoshoot
Within 7 business days, you’ll receive a full viewing gallery to select your favourite images according to your package. Once your selection is complete, your final edited photos will be delivered within 30 business days.

Anywhere between 10 months and a year and a half. Most families book about a month before the first birthday, so the photos are ready in time for the party.

The themed setup, props and studio outfits are all included, and we plan the colours together. The cake is the one thing you bring — allergies, diet and sugar are different in every family, so that choice stays yours.

As messy as it's meant to be! Cleanup is handled, and a gentle "bath" style finish makes the cutest ending.

Yes — we can capture a few family and sibling shots before the smash begins.

No. The studio has a large collection of outfits for boys and girls, in a range of sizes and colours, and we choose together on the day.

Three moments in two hours: family portraits first, then the cake with fruit alongside, and finally a warm bubble bath in the vintage tub.

Completely normal, and nothing is forced. We start with fruit and follow your baby’s rhythm. Even untouched, we still have the portraits, the setup and the bath.
